In the Fall of 2013, a group of enthusiasts started work on organizing the first Canadian Saab Owner’s Convention. I was responsible for the Interactive portion, where I created an announcement site using WordPress, then later a full-featured website with Paypal ticket ordering.

The full site featured a calendar for the event’s dinners, guest speakers, seminars and activities.

As well as writing copy for the site, I designed the event’s logo. One that would be familiar to Saab fans, but added a Canadian element. It was necessary that the logo work on a black or white background when used for the event’s website, email communications, t-shirts and bags given to attendees, signage and advertising.

The event was a success with attendees and sponsors very happy with the event, a great turnout and everyone wanting to do it again.

The tools I used for the event:

WordPress
• for the creation of an one page announcement site, the
final event website and a post-event site with a gallery of event
photos

Mail Chimp
• handling newsletter distribution to subscribers, delivering
confirmation details and receipt after purchasing tickets

PayPal
• for handing of the ticket sales, capturing attendee details
such as t-shirt size and submission of dietary needs for the
included dinners

Google Apps for Business
• for sharing files and hosting the convention’s email address

• for promotion and connecting with attendees
