When the client was pitched about updating their existing app for a prominent product, no supporting material or design was given to support the estimate. Without any context, the client was shocked at the cost, then declined to go forward with the proposal, not really understanding how different and improved the app could be from what already existed.
I was asked to create a concept to demonstrate how an updated app could operate, showing clear improvements from the existing app, which was little more than a PDF with embedded links. The concept demonstrates how a sales rep could navigate through a great amount of text and visual data, while keeping the presentation interesting through the use of interactive elements to organize the information.
After being presented with this vision for his product’s information, the client was on board and gave his approval for the redesign to commence without any reduction from the original pitch budget.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but wireframes, concepts or storyboards can be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
